The Department of Nurse Anesthetist Practice has received approval from the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs to move from the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree to the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree for entry to practice for new nurse anesthetists. This transition is part of a larger movement within the nursing profession to move all Advanced Practice Nursing programs for nurse anesthetists, nurse practitioners and others to a practice doctorate education program.
At this time the Department’s last offering of the nurse anesthetist program as a MSN degree was with the class cohort enrolled in 2016. As of June 2016, forward, the program will only be offered as a DNP degree for entry to practice with the next class cohort starting in January, 2017. Students currently enrolled in the MSN curriculum will continue with their MSN master’s degree plan of study and will graduate on time, as scheduled.
At this time the Department is only accepting applications for the DNP Degree for entry to practice. For additional information please contact the Department office at 305-348-7747 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
