MSN + DNP Dual Degree
(Start in January 2017-December 2019)
(Start in August 2017-December 2019)
Notice to Prospective Applicants:
The Department of Nurse Anesthetist Practice is in the final planning and approval process to move from the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree to the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree for entry to practice for new nurse anesthetists. This transition is part of a larger movement within the nursing profession to move all Advanced Practice Nursing programs for nurse anesthetists, nurse practitioners and nurse midwives to a practice doctorate education program.
Pending final approvals, the Department is anticipating that its last offering of the nurse anesthetist program as a MSN degree will be in 2016. The program would then only be offered as a DNP degree starting in 2017. Students enrolled in the MSN curriculum will continue with the master’s plan of study and will graduate on time, as scheduled.
If final approvals have not been completed by July 2016, the Department will push back the above timeline by one year.
