Accreditation


In May 2001, the Florida International University Anesthesiology Nursing Program was awarded full accreditation by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA). The Program was re-accredited in 2010 and will under go its next re-accreditation review in 2019. This accreditation permits graduates to take the National Certification Examination to obtain the CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) credential. Florida International University is a member of the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges, the U.S. Department of Education recognized regional accrediting agency and is accredited to offer degrees through the doctoral level. FIU’s Nursing Department, including the Graduate Nursing Division, is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

The Nurse Anesthetist Program at Florida International University is fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA). The program's next accreditation review by the COA is scheduled for 2019.

For the last FIU Nurse Anesthetist graduating class (December 2015):

  • the Graduation rate was 97% (35/36)
  • the Attrition rate was 3% (1/36)
    • 1 student resigned (personal, medical, academic, etc.)
  • the Employment rate was 100% within 6 months of graduation and certification
  • For this graduating class, the pass rate on the first attempt was 69% (24/35 graduates) and 100% on the second attempt (11/11).
  • The national average pass rate was 85% on the National Certification Examination
