Welcome to the Entry-Level Athletic Training Education Program website and thank you for your interest in our program. Florida International University offers the only Entry-Level Master of Science in athletic training program in the state of Florida. This is a unique and affordable program that provides quality education and the opportunity for students to obtain an advanced degree.

This site is designed to provide general information about the profession, a brief orientation to our academic program, advice for prospective students, resources for our current students, and news for our alumni and friends.

What is an Athletic Trainer?
Unique health care providers who specialize in the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses.

What is Athletic Training?
Athletic training is practiced by athletic trainers, health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation of patients and clients.  Athletic training encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities.

Want to become an Athletic Trainer?
Students who want to become certified athletic trainers must earn a degree from an accredited athletic training curriculum.  Accredited programs include formal instruction in areas such as injury/illness prevention, first aid and emergency care, assessment of injury/illness, human anatomy and physiology, therapeutic modalities, and nutrition.  Classroom learning is enhanced through clinical education experiences.  More than 70 percent of certified athletic trainers hold at least a master’s degree.


This Program is Accredited by the  Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education


Accredited programs include formal instruction in areas such as injury/illness prevention, first aid and emergency care, assessment of injury/illness, human anatomy and physiology, nutrition, therapeutic modalities, rehabilitation, reconditioning, organization & administration, professional development and responsibility.
