Welcome to the department of Communication Sciences & Disorders and thank you for your interest in our program.  The unique focus of the CSD department is one of Cultural and Linguistic Diversity (CLD) and bilingualism. The goal of the department is to educate CLD professionals to meet the needs of multicultural individuals with Communication Disorders.

Students matriculating in the program will benefit from the infusion of CLD throughout the curriculum, as well as coursework and clinical experiences which emphasize bilingual issues with special focus on English/Spanish and English/Haitian-Creole bilingualism. Students will have opportunities to receive clinical education from a variety of clinical settings in the Miami metropolitan area including hospitals, schools, private practices and community based clinics. They will also engage in research projects with faculty members.

The department of CSD admits students once per year. The Master of Science degree program in speech-language pathology is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The annual deadline for receipt of applications is January 15. Applicants will be notified of the decisions during the spring semester. Students accepted to the program will begin enrollment in the Fall semester of each year.

Additionally, we offer 25 credits of undergraduate prerequisites for applicants without a major in Communication Disorders. These courses are designed to provide individuals without bachelor degrees in speech language pathology with appropriate education necessary for admission into the graduate program.
