BHSA Internship

The FIU Bachelor of Health Services Administration (BHSA) program offers an Administrative Internship. Students who have completed all their Core and Foundation courses and satisfy all eligibility
requirements, including clinical clearance through the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences (NWCNHS) clinical clearance process, are able to enroll in HSA 4850 - Administrative Internship.

This internship course is for a semester and requires the student to complete a total of 210 hours at the placement organization. Students will receive three (3) credits for successful completion. The internship is offered every semester and allows students to apply the concepts and theories they learn in the classroom to real-world situations found in healthcare organizations. It also can be included on a first graduate resume.

If a student is interested and plans to enroll in this internship, he or she must meet all eligibility requirements including deadlines for completing an application and receiving clinical clearance from the NWCNHS. The instructions and a summary of the necessary eligibility requirements are listed in the following
documents:

The NWCNHS has partnered with an outside company, American DataBank, who is responsible for overseeing and completing this clearance and will notify the NWCNHS once a student has been cleared.
There are NO exceptions to the clinical clearance since this requirement is included in the agreements the NWCNHS has with organizations available for internship placements. Students should allow ample time
to complete the clinical clearance process as it includes background screening and verification of immunizations. Please visit the website, fiuexpress.com for additional information about the required
clinical clearance.

Students also should feel free to contact Professor Salvatore Barbera, who serves as the Coordinator for Clinical Education and oversees the BHSA internship program.
