Accelerated Option BSN Admission Requirements

Admission to the Accelerated Option (A.O.) Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) track is competitive. Students are admitted to this limited access track once per year in the fall mini term (winter intersession).  The A.O. BSN track is designed specifically for students who have already earned a bachelor’s degree in another discipline, and who are now seeking a new career in the field of nursing.

Minimum Requirements for Accelerated Option Applicants:

The following are the minimum requirements for an applicant to be considered for admission:

  • Previous Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 for all coursework.
  • Applicants must successfully meet all FIU undergraduate admissions requirements.
  • Minimum cumulative 3.25 GPA or higher for all nursing prerequisite courses.
  • Successful completion of the nursing entrance exam with passing scores.
  • Applicants must complete a separate NWCNHS application for the Accelerated Option Track, with an application deadline of JULY 15.
  • Completion of all Nursing prerequisites with a “C” grade or better. All science prerequisites must be completed by the end of the Summer semester, and ALL prerequisites must be completed by the end of the summer semester prior to fall admission.
