How to Apply to the Accelerated Option Track


STEP 1 - Meet with A.O. Advisor

  • Make an appointment with the A.O. Advisor, or register to attend an A.O. Information Session by calling 305-348-7709.
  • Bring copies of all unofficial transcripts (from all schools) to your advisement appointment or the information session. Our advisors will review your transcripts to determine track eligibility and prerequisite completion.

STEP 2 - Complete Prerequisites

  • Completion of all nursing prerequisites with a “C” grade or better.
  • All prerequisites must be completed by the end of the Summer semester (and must be taken within the last 10 years).

STEP 3 - Apply to FIU

  • Go to http://admissions.fiu.edu to complete an undergraduate application to FIU for admission to the upcoming FALL semester.
  • Send official transcripts from all schools attended to:
    • Florida International University
      Office of Undergraduate Admissions
      P.O. Box 659003
      Miami, FL 33265-9003

STEP 4 - Take Nursing Entrance Exam

This exam is required of all applicants to the Generic and Accelerated tracks of the BSN Track at Florida International University. The required exam is the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) from ATI. FIU only accepts version VI of this exam. The exam cost is $85 per attempt. Only two attempts are allowed per application cycle!

The Nursing Entrance Exam (TEAS VI) can be taken at the FIU Testing Center or a regionally accredited college or university testing center. The exam is also available at PSI Testing Centers. The exam is standardized, timed, multiple choice, computer-based, and comprised of the following:

STEP 5 - Apply to A.O. Track

  • Complete the NursingCAS application at nursingcas.liaisoncas.com by creating an account before July 15th of every calendar year. The application cycle runs from April 15th to July 15th.
  • Include Supporting Documentation
    • Official PDF results of ATI TEAS uploaded to the NursingCAS application.
    • One copy of each official transcript from every college, university or professional school attended in a sealed envelope sent directly to NursingCAS.
  • Extracurricular documentation can be provided to support the application. Documents must be on official letterhead from the participatory organization and signed by an organization official. Documents can include proof of volunteering, work experience, leadership activities, licences and certifications, or community service. If including work experience, please provide employment verification letter from employer.
