What is the procedure for selection of applicants for the Accelerated Combined BSN/MSN for FEPs track?
The track has a limited enrollment program and uses a competitive admission process. To be considered for admission, applicants must have met all general education and nursing prerequisite requirements, have met entry requirements for computation and reading skills, have completed an interview, and be recommended for admission by the Undergraduate Nursing Admissions Committee.

If I meet all the admission requirements, am I assured admission to the track?
No. The track is highly competitive and has limited enrollment due to Florida Board of Nursing regulations and agency requirements. The student/faculty ratio is mandated to protect patient safety in the clinical setting.

If I have a sponsoring hospital, am I required to work at the hospital after I graduate?
Yes. The hospital will require you to sign a contract to work in that facility for a specified period of time.

What are the costs of the track?
In addition to undergraduate tuition and fees, nursing students are charged an additional fee of $83/credit hour for clinical courses (courses with an L suffix). The additional fee supports clinical instructional costs, a testing program, and laboratory/technology supplies and costs. In addition, a 3-credit course offered online has a fee of $160.

Is financial assistance available?
The Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences offers a number of scholarship opportunities to eligible students. Visit our Scholarship Page to review the scholarships currently available for the academic year.
To learn more about other financial assistance opportunities available through the university, please consult the FIU One Stop Enrollment Services department.

Can I go part time in the track?
No. The track is “lock-step.” All entering students proceed as a class through the program to graduation.

Are the courses online?
There are some courses offered online and many courses are web-enhanced. For web-enhanced courses, a portion of the course (notes, quizzes, discussions) uses computer technology to deliver the course.

Is there a licensing examination for students who complete the program?
Yes. The RN licensing examination is named the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) and is administered through the Florida Board of Nursing.
