How to Apply

STEP 1 – Contact the FEP BSN/MSN Office

Collect Track information by calling or emailing, Jerry Griffin, Office Coordinator, at 305-919-4421 or
Have an original transcript from your foreign medical school translated to English and evaluated by the following National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) member or by an equivalent transcript evaluation company. Please visit: for participating members.
Bring copies of all unofficial transcripts (from all schools) at your advisement appointment or the information session. Our staff will review your transcripts to determine Track eligibility and prerequisite completion.


STEP 2 - Complete Prerequisites

Completion of all Nursing prerequisites with a “C” grade or better.
* Any Introduction to Statistics or equivalent
* Human Nutrition/Principles of Nutrition
* Human Growth & Development (CLEP Exam is accepted as equivalent)
Prerequisites must be completed by the end of the Spring semester (and must be taken within the last 10 years), prior to Fall semester admission.


STEP 3 - Apply to FIU

  1. Go to to complete an undergraduate application to FIU for admission to the upcoming FALL SEMESTER, then select “apply for undergraduate” and then select “transfer applicants” and fill out that application. Select “Second Bachelor’s Degree” as level of study.
  2. Send official transcripts from all schools attended (including original international transcript and official evaluation sent directly from the evaluation agency) to:
    Florida International University, Office of Undergraduate Admissions, P.O. Box 659003, Miami, FL 33265-9003.


STEP 4 - Take FEP Nursing Entrance Exams TOEFL & TEAS

The Nursing Entrance Exam (TEAS VI) can be taken at the FIU Testing Center,, or at a regionally accredited college or university testing center. The TOEFL can be taken directly with ETS by registering at: or at the FIU English Language Institute,

*TOEFL scores must be at least 550 (Paper Based) or an 80 or higher on the iBT (Internet-Based TOEFL). Have official TOEFL scores sent to:

TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills)

*FIU only accepts version VI of this exam. Include unofficial TEAS scores in complete application packet!

Call the Testing Center for an appointment to take the examination, making certain to have adequate time to obtain test results prior to the application deadline:

*TOEFL Requirement waived if previously completed High School Diploma, Bachelor or Master’s Degree at a U.S. college or university; or successfully completes ENC 1101 & ENC 1102 (or equivalent) with a “C” or better.

STEP 5 - Apply to FEP BSN/MSN Track

  1. Complete the College Application at: FEP BSN/MSN Application

Include a 2 page essay explaining why you would benefit from being a part of the Combined BSN/MSN Track, along with your intended MSN track and why you’d like to be a part of this track. Tracks include: Adult, Child, Family and Psych.

  1. Include Supporting Documentation:

One copy of each official transcript from every college, university or professional school attended in a sealed envelope. (Official transcripts should be sent to the student in a sealed envelope and then included in the application packet submitted to Student Services.)

  1. Include unofficial TOEFL and TEAS scores in complete application packet. All application materials must be sent in ONE PACKET and must be received by MAY 1st for admission to the FALL Semester (August) of the following same year. Mail or hand-deliver FEP BSN/MSN application in an envelope from Step 5, PRIOR TO May 1st,  to the following address:

FEP BSN/MSN Track application materials must be submitted in ONE PACKET:

  1. NWCNHS FEP BSN/MSN application
  2. Essay
  3. Official transcripts in sealed envelopes (including evaluated international transcript)
  4. Unofficial TEAS test scores
  5. Unofficial TOEFL test scores


STEP 6 – Interview and Evaluation

  1. All qualified candidates will participate in a personal interview with the Combined BSN/MSN Track for FEP’s Admissions Committee.
  2. Students will be notified of the committee’s admission decision following the interview and final review of all documentation.

Incomplete packets with partial application materials WILL NOT be considered for admission!
