Admission Requirements

https://nursingcas.liaisoncas.comThe Generic Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Track is a limited access Track with a competitive admissions process based on a comprehensive evaluation. Applications for admission are considered once per year for admission to the fall semester.

Minimum Requirements for ALL Students:

The following will be considered for admission:

  • Associate of Arts (AA) from a Florida state college or completion of all FIU Core Curriculum (UCC) requirements including Gordon Rule, and foreign language requirements.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25* or higher for all coursework is required to qualify for consideration within the applicant pool. Cumulative GPA (including dual enrollment and transfer courses) will be used as one of the criteria for competitive ranking. *Approved by Undergraduate Nursing Faculty on 4/25/12.
  • Completion of all general education requirements (UCC) and nursing prerequisites no later than the spring semester of the corresponding application cycle. No repeats in required science prerequisite courses because of failure (C- or below) and all science prerequisites must have been completed within the last 10 years (see required prerequisite list.)
  • Successful completion of the ATI TEAS (Sixth Edition) nursing entrance exam
    • Test must be taken at the FIU Testing Center or at a regionally accredited college or university testing center in Florida or throughout the nation. It is also available at PSI Testing Centers around the country.
    • There are two minimum scores an applicant must achieve on the ATI TEAS to be considered for admission:
      • Minimum 70% Comprehensive score
      • Minimum 62% Science Score
  • Our application procedures have changed as of the 2018 application cycle. We have transitioned to a fully on-line platform, NursingCAS. Current FIU students will need to submit an application through NursingCAS at by creating an account and submitting an application for the Generic BSN Track. The application will be available from December 15th to March 15th of every academic year. Transfer students will also need to submit an undergraduate application to Undergraduate Admissions at

Transfer & International Applicants

In addition to the above admission requirements, transfer students must successfully meet all FIU Undergraduate Admission requirements, prior to being considered for admission to the nursing Track. In addition, international students must comply with all international student requirements as per International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS).
