A post-master’s Nurse Practitioner (NP) Certificate builds upon an existing Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree to expand and enhance the knowledge and skills of the applicant in a specific clinical nursing major to manage the health and care of their patients.

FIU Graduate Nursing offers post-master’s certificate programs in the same clinical specialty programs as our Nurse Practitioner DNP degrees:

  • Advanced Adult-Gerontology Nursing
  • Advanced Family Nursing
  • Advanced Child Nursing
  • Advanced Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing
  • 28

Credits for Adult and Child tracks

  • 31

    Credits for Psychiatric track

  • 32

    Credits for Family track

Program eligibility is for candidates who already hold an MSN degree from a NLNAC (National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission) or CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) accredited program and wish to be nationally certified in another specialty area. Only upon graduation may candidates qualify to sit for the national certification exam in their area of specialty.
