Clinical Education

The FIU's DNP Nurse Anesthetist Program begins clinical simulation education at the Simulation Center during the third semester of the program. The Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences’ Simulation Teaching and Research (STAR) Center has a state-of-the-art virtual hospital fully equipped with computerized patient simulators in a fully immersive clinical setting.

The FIU's DNP Nurse Anesthetist Program utilizes up to four simulated operating rooms complete with all of the latest anesthesia equipment that students will utilize in their hospital clinical education. Students will learn and practice all anesthesia skills in the STAR Center first, before performing these skills for the first time on patients. The FIU's DNP Nurse Anesthetist Program is one of the first, and remains one of the few programs in the country, that have integrated simulation-based education throughout the nurse anesthetist program curriculum.
