Undergraduate Nursing

The FIU Undergraduate Nursing unit of the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences provides innovative and practical solutions to the critical nursing shortage while addressing the changing dynamics of our country’s population and healthcare system.

FIU Nursing’s various Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs push the boundaries of nursing education in and out of the classroom so our graduates practice and thrive in today’s increasingly complex, technological healthcare environment.

Our BSN programs combine traditional classroom work with web-enhanced instruction, the proficient use of technologies, quality simulation education and learning through service to the community. You’ll be well ahead of the learning curve and making an immediate impact as soon as you start your nursing career.

The Goal of the BSN program is to:

Prepare graduates to practice as professional nurse generalists.

Graduates from the BSN program will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate foundational personal and professional leadership skills in clinical and community settings emphasizing ethical decision-making, effective communication and technology within varied healthcare teams. (AACN 2026 Domain 7, 8, 9, 10)
  2. Apply evidence-based knowledge and critical thinking to deliver safe, patient-centered care across the lifespan. (AACN 2026 Domain 1,4,5)
  3. Participate in interprofessional teams to promote community health initiatives and improve local, national, and international healthcare outcomes. (AACN 2026 Domain 3, 6)
  4. Advocate for patients and communities by addressing health issues and supporting policies that promote access to healthcare services for all. (AACN 2026 Domain 3, 7, 9)
  5. Demonstrate empathy and cultural sensitivity (Domain 9) in providing holistic, patient-centered care that respects individual and community values and needs. (AACN 2026 Domain 2, 3, 9)
