FIU’s post-baccalaureate Graduate Certificate in Communication Sciences & Disorders at the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences is designed specifically for applicants with a bachelor’s degree in a major outside of the field.
The 28-credit program prepares students to support speech-language pathology professionals through comprehensive practical and classroom experience. Students learn about disorders and treatments, communication devices, and working with people with verbal impairments.
The program spans four (4) consecutive semesters, including summers, and the certificate is awarded following successful completion of 10 course prerequisites. This program prepares students with prerequisites that can serve toward a career as a speech-language pathology assistant, or as the foundation to apply for our Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (MS-SLP) degree program.
