Basic Life Support (BLS)

Description: FIU Star Center offers the AHA's BLS course, teaching participants to recognize emergencies, perform CPR, use an AED, and provide ventilations. It's designed for healthcare professionals and others needing basic cardiovascular life support skills. Topics include CPR for all age groups, AED use, effective ventilations, teamwork in resuscitation, and relieving choking.

 

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - 2-day course

Description: The FIU Star Center offers the AHA's ACLS course, which enhances BLS skills and emphasizes continuous, high-quality CPR. It's designed for healthcare professionals managing cardiac emergencies and emergency response personnel. Topics include basic life support, recognition and management of cardiac arrest, airway management, pharmacology, and stroke management. ACLS for Experienced Providers is available for those proficient in BLS and ACLS skills, focusing on advanced care and post-cardiac arrest management.

 

Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) - 2-day course

Description: The FIU Star Center offers the PALS course for healthcare providers and emergency personnel who respond to emergencies involving infants and children. The course focuses on improving outcomes through effective recognition and intervention in respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest. It covers topics such as CPR, team dynamics, respiratory distress and failure, shock treatment, arrhythmia management, and post-cardiac arrest care.
