Fall Class of 2021 and Spring Class of 2022, we are excited to share the details of your upcoming Nursing Pinning Ceremony.  Family and friends, nursing faculty and staff, clinical partners and other university members will be joining together to honor you on this special day. We look forward to celebrating your transition into professional practice.

Student Arrival:  Student Check-In will open at 11:30 am

Student Parking:  Students are encouraged to park in the Blue Garage – PG 2.

Student Dress Code for Ceremony

  • Ladies, knee-length business style dresses, skirts/blouses, or pantsuits of solid color (i.e. no florals, stripes, plaids, or other designs).
  • Gentlemen, dress slacks, and dress shirt must be worn. Ties are preferred.
  • Dress shoes required - no sneakers, sandals or high platform shoes (no more than 3 inches) may be worn.
  • Every student who wishes to participate in the Nursing Pinning Ceremony must wear a white FIU lab coat.  No exceptions.

Sigma Theta Tau:  During the program, the members of the Honor Society will be asked to stand for recognition.  Members, please wear your purple and white cords for the ceremony.

Guest Parking:  The Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences has reserved spaces in Lot 5 for your guest.  Please visit the link below provided by the University’s Parking & Transportation Department to register your guest’s license plate.  ONLY the license plate will be needed to register your guest’s vehicle.

Please note parking spaces are limited, as such we encourage guests to carpool and that only one vehicle be registered. Please see attached map for parking directions. Vehicles that are not registered will be cited by the Parking & Transportation Department.  Please note, we will not be held responsible for any parking citations.

Strollers:  We highly encourage that strollers be left in the vehicles.  However, a designated area for stroller parking will be provided immediately outside the Concert Hall.  Please do not leave any valuables in the strollers, as FIU NWCNHS will not held responsible for any lost items.

Special Accommodations:  We encourage guests who need special accommodations, such as wheelchairs, walkers, or who are injured, to arrive an hour ahead of time so that we may assist you with seating arrangements. Please see the seating ushers for assistance. Special accommodation seating is assigned on a first come, first served basis. Individuals who request special accommodation seating may be accompanied by one other guest, however we will do our best to seat your guests together.

Guest Tickets:  A “Will Call” table will be set aside for individuals who were not able to pick up their tickets.  Please make sure each of your guests has a ticket.  To ensure we meet Fire Marshall Regulations, no one will be admitted into the Concert Hall without a guest ticket.

Concert Hall Seating: Concert Hall doors will open at 12:00 pm.  Guests are encouraged to arrive with their whole party as seating will be provided on a first-come-first-served basis. The "holding" of seats is not permitted. Each row must be filled entirely and no empty seats will be allowed. Members of your party who arrive separately will be seated separately.

Start of Ceremony:  The Nursing Pinning Ceremony will start promptly at 1:00 pm with Processional.  Guests that arrive at that time, or just before 1:00 pm, will be escorted into room 150 where they will be able to view the Processional as it will be live-streamed.  Upon the conclusion of the Processional, your guests will be able to check-in and be seated in the Concert Hall.

Please note: All nominations and supporting materials must be enclosed in a sealed envelope and received by Hanyzer Lee-Reyes, Sr. Admin. Assistant, Office of Academic Affairs, via, or AHC-3, Room 534 on or before 5:00 pm, Saturday, January 15, 2022
