Speech-language pathologists are healthcare specialists dedicated to the evaluation, treatment, and research of human communication and related disorders. They can work in a variety of settings including schools, clinics, hospitals and rehabilitation centers.
FIU’s accredited Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (MS-SLP) degree program at the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences prepares students to identify, assess and manage speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders, as well as develop treatments of care for patients who exhibit communication differences and disorders across their lifespan.
This full-time, 6-semester program (including summers), emphasizes a bilingual curriculum focused on a wide range of related disorder diagnoses and treatments, clinical experience and master’s level project work. Four (4) semesters are spent in clinical rotations to provide you with the real-world skills you’ll need to succeed in this high-demand profession.

Curriculum & Core Competencies
FIU's Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (MS-SLP) program prepares students through a rigorous, evidence-based curriculum that combines classroom instruction, clinical experiences, and research. Students develop the knowledge, clinical skills, and professional competencies needed to assess, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders across the lifespan.

Licensing Eligibility
Passing the Praxis® Examination (162 passing score) is required for degree completion.
