Award Nomination Criteria

 

Nightingale Excellence Award

Student must be nominated by a faculty member within the Undergraduate Nursing Department. Nominee should be a graduating senior who exemplifies nursing academic and clinical excellence, advocacy, leadership, and potential for healthcare innovation nationally. Nominations will close Friday, January 31, 2025, at 11:59 pm.

Nomination Criteria

A. Student Eligibility

Individual must be NWCNHS Nursing student who is a graduating senior.

B. Supporting Documentation

Faculty Letter of Recommendation. No more than 300 words which should include the following:

  •  Academic achievements and honors. (if applicable)
  •  NWCNHS course or clinical exemplary work
  •  Career-related experience 
  •  Extra-curricular activities
  •  Leadership experience

C. Evaluation Criteria

The Nightingale Award recipient should be a well-rounded and successful member of his or her campus and community who has exemplified leadership in promoting quality healthcare to others. The student should excel in each of the following areas:

  • GPA
  • Clinical evaluations
  • Leadership activities

D. Recognition

The Nightingale Award recipient will be honored at the Pinning Ceremony. The award recipient will be presented with a plaque will be expected to give a short acceptance speech.

 

Outstanding Nursing Graduate Website Criteria

Nominations:

A student is nominated by his/her peers. The nominee is a graduating senior who will be most likely to make a national and international impact in healthcare. Nominations will close Friday, January 31, 2025 at 11:59 pm.

NOMINATION CRITERIA:

A. Eligibility

  • Individual must be NWCNHS Nursing student who is a graduating senior who will elevate the nursing profession and/or achieve great things as a nurse and serve as a role model for nurses beyond the local community.
  • Self-nominations will not be accepted.

B. Support Materials

No more than 200 words which should include the reasons for why the nominator believes the student should receive the award.

C. Evaluation Criteria

The Nursing Outstanding Graduate Awardee should be a graduating senior who will elevate the nursing profession and/or achieve great things as a nurse and serve as a role model for nurses beyond the local community.

D. Recognition

The Nursing Outstanding Graduate Award recipient will be honored at the Pinning Ceremony The recipient will be presented the award and will be expected to give a short acceptance speech.

 

Dean’s Legacy Award Website Criteria

The Dean's Legacy Award recognizes an Undergraduate Nursing faculty member who embodies the heart and soul of the Nursing Profession and Academia. Nominations will close Friday, January 31, 2025, at 11:59 pm.

NOMINATION CRITERIA:

A. Eligibility

  • Full-time Undergraduate Nursing Faculty
  • Nomination must be submitted by an Undergraduate Nursing Senior.

B. Support Materials

No more than 200 words which should include the reasons for why the student believes the faculty member should receive the award.

C. Evaluation Criteria

The faculty member should show a commitment to the profession, the college, and the institution; as well as demonstrate:

  • Active involvement in university, college and professional services;
  • Excellence in teaching and clinical practice;
  • Dedication to the undergraduate department, the nursing profession, and the university.
  • A contributor who goes above and beyond the call of duty within the nursing profession and holds a lasting imprint in all aspects of academia and students' professional development.

D. Recognition

The Dean's Legacy Award recipient will be honored at the Pinning Ceremony held in the FIU Graham Center Ballrooms. The award recipient will be presented the award and will be expected to give a short acceptance speech.
