PhD in Nursing

The PhD in Nursing unit at the Florida International University Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences is cultivating the next generation of nursing leaders who will create and apply the evidence-based science necessary to guide the future of nursing practice, education and research.

Degrees & Programs

FIU Nursing offers two research-focused doctorate tracks to prepare you as a leader in the nursing industry, conduct breakthrough research, influence health policy, and more through an individualized course of study under the mentorship of research-active faculty.

  • MSN-to-PhD

    The traditional doctorate track for candidates with their bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing.

  • BSN-to-PhD

    A combined track created for students who demonstrate outstanding undergraduate academic accomplishment and an intentional desire to advance their nursing education to its highest level. The 2 tracks available are the MSN Nurse Practitioner (offering 4 specialty areas) and the PhD in Nursing degree or a Masters in Nursing Education and the PhD in Nursing degree.
