Dr. Francisco Brenes
Dr. Francisco Brenes’ research program focuses on psychiatric and behavioral health disparities, suicide, and the role of spirituality and herbal medicines in diverse and vulnerable communities, especially among undocumented immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and displaced individuals. Dr. Brenes’s research promotes an understanding of the psychosocial and behavioral health challenges encountered among underserved populations. Effective strategies can be developed to support mental health care in vulnerable communities by examining the psychosocial stressors these groups encounter. His research benefits diverse ethnic groups, vulnerable children and families, as well as underserved populations.

Dr. Timothy F. Page
Dr. Timothy F. Page is currently a Professor and Director of Academic Affairs in the Department of Management in the H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship. Prior to joining Nova Southeastern University, Dr. Page was a tenured Associate Professor, Ph.D. program director, and interim chair of the Department of Health Policy and Management at Florida International University. He received his Ph.D. in Economics with specializations in healthcare and policy from the University of New Hampshire in 2008. Dr. Page’s research portfolio includes over 45 peer-reviewed publications and participation as principal and co-investigator in funded projects totaling over $12.5 million. Speaker with PhD students
An accomplished, upcoming PhD graduate from FIU and Certified Nurse Educator with close to 9 years of experience in the healthcare industry, his areas of focus include Nursing Education, Surgical Services, Public Health, Minority Health, and Critical Care, with additional experience in Minority Health and Critical Care. His philosophical focus centers around the psychiatric and stigmatic pressures of obtaining Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) among Latin Men who have sex with Men (LMSM). Following the completion of his Ph.D. Nursing program, he plans on pursuing a career in the healthcare field to understand and apply educational concepts for patient health and knowledge promotion regarding best-practice comprehension amongst prospective staff. In doing so, his goal is to positively impact the health-related outcomes of our community and decrease the morbidity and mortality rates of minority individuals through the discipline of nursing practice.

Dr. Mariateresa H. Muñoz
Dr. Mariateresa (Teri) H. Muñoz has an associate degree in Speech Communication from Miami-Dade College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Florida International University (FIU), and a Master’s and Clinical Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) from Nova Southeastern University. She is currently completing her second doctorate, a Doctor of Philosophy in Teaching and Learning, with a concentration in Special Education at FIU. She has over 35 years of experience working with individuals with communication deficiencies across the lifespan. Dr. Muñoz worked at Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) as a speech-language pathologist and special education instructor (1991-2000). She was the President and Executive Director of the Pediatric Center for Communication & Feeding Deficiencies, Inc. (2001-2015), serving as an Early-Steps provider.
Dr. Muñoz has been on a clinical line at FIU since 2005 and currently holds the title of Clinical Associate Professor. Dr. Muñoz managed a 15-year contract between FIU and M-DCPS. Under this contract, she oversaw speech-language services provided by graduate clinicians and their respective supervisors. Dr. Muñoz is the President/ Founder of St. Thérèse’s Roses of Hope, Pediatric (and Adult) Center, Inc., a non-profit organization providing evaluative and therapeutic services for speech-language and feeding disorders. Through St. Thérèse, Dr. Muñoz founded the Clinical Apprenticeship Program, a mentorship program for aspiring SLPs and special education students that offers learning opportunities in clinical practice (session observations and labs), research, manuscript submissions, and conference presentations. Areas of teaching, clinical practice, and/or research include augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), early childhood development/intervention, culturally and linguistically responsive practices, special education, neuromotor speech disorders, aphasia, dementia, interprofessional practice, and feeding disorders (e.g., Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder). Dr. Muñoz’s clinical practices and research findings are frequently presented at regional, state, national, and international conferences, two of which earned awards (state and national levels). Some of her works have been published in peer-reviewed journals. She has co-authored chapter books, two of which were co-written with former presidents of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), Drs. Anderson and Chabon. Dr. Muñoz has served as a consultant for AAC device developments. Additionally, she is a team member on grant-funded projects, including an AAC device development.

Osmel "Ozzie" Delgado
Ozzie Delgado serves as the Chief Executive Officer of FIU Health and Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs for Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. He also serves as an adjunct professor at FIU’s College of Business and the Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work.
Delgado previously served as the Chief Operating Officer for the Cleveland Clinic Florida Region from 2014-2020, overseeing the healthsystem in Florida, which included 5 hospitals and 40 outpatient clinics. He also previously served as the Chief Operating Officer for Healthcare Outcomes Performance Company (HOPCo), where he led HOPCo’s national operations, focusing on the delivery of value-based care in musculoskeletal specialties.
Dr. Delgado has over 20+ years of experience within the healthcare industry. His vast experience has aided in the strategic planning and direction of efficient operations, working together with executive leadership teams to achieve the respective strategic objectives of the organizations, focusing on the delivery of high-quality and value-based health care services for patients.
Delgado earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Nova Southeastern University, a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) from Florida Atlantic University, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology (Pre-Med) from Barry University. Delgado received a fellowship designation from both the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists as well as a fellowship from the Health Management Academy GE Fellows Program. He has been an active member of the American College of Healthcare Executives since 2011, currently serves as a board member for the Broward Regional Health Planning Council, and serves on the Advisory Council to FIU’s College of Business Healthcare MBA program. He previously served as a board member for ACHE of South Florida and for the Weston YMCA.
