MHSA Culminating Experiences

  • HSA6977 – Master’s Research Project

The Master’s Research Project is a capstone experience where you explore a healthcare administration topic in depth. With guidance from faculty, you’ll design and complete a project focused on a healthcare organization, a community setting or publicly available data. This experience lets you apply the knowledge and skills you’ve gained throughout the program.

  • HSA6875 – Administrative Residency

The Administrative Residency is a hands-on capstone experience that lets you work directly in a healthcare organization under the supervision of experienced professionals. You’ll gain exposure to daily operations and build practical skills in planning, problem-solving and decision-making in a real-world environment.

You can contact the Clinical Education Coordinator for questions about the Administrative Residency program or reach out to the Academic Support Services Coordinator for additional guidance.

The MHSA program offers two culminating experiences in your final semester. You can choose between HSA6977 – Master’s Research Project, which investigates a real-world healthcare challenge, or HSA6875 – Administrative Residency, which provides hands-on experience in a healthcare organization.

Both options are electives, allowing you to select the experience that best aligns with your interests and career goals.

When you enter the MHSA program, you’ll sign an Automatic Registration Agreement to indicate your preferred culminating experience.

If you choose the Administrative Residency, you’ll also need to complete a separate application, due two semesters before your final term.
