Foreign Educated Physician to BSN/MSN (FEP BSN/MSN)

In 2010, the FEP-to-BSN transitioned into the FEP BSN/MSN as a way to fast-track students in pursuit of their Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree. The new accelerated curriculum allows students to obtain their MSN degree in eight (8) semesters (3 years) as opposed to the traditional 6 years, making students eligible to take national boards and become nurse practitioners.

This program is uniquely designed for Foreign- Educated Physicians (MD) ONLY, who have not obtained an RN license.

Students are admitted into the FEP BSN/MSN once a year, application January 15th to April 15th, and the program begins on the fall semester.

Licensing Eligibility

The FEP BSN/MSN program meets professional nursing standards and guidelines (CCNE, NTF, FBON) for the awarding of both a BSN and MSN degree, and eligibility for national and state certification for nurse practitioners.

Graduates of the program are eligible to take the state (or multi-state) National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN®), and after a successful exam, become a Registered Nurse (RN).  Moreover, they are eligible to take the national Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) certification in their specialty area or Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) certification exam.

The program provides for a BSN stop-out option in semester five (5) for those who attain less than a 3.2 cumulative GPA in the first four semesters, as well as a BSN stop-out option in semester six (6) for those not passing NCLEX-RN the first-time during semester five (5). Stop out students will graduate with BSN and will be discontinued from the combined BSN-MSN track.
