One of my friends, who was also from the Philippines, told me FIU Nursing had a program for foreign doctors to become nurse practitioners in three years. The campus was near my residence, so it was convenient. I thought I knew everything about medicine, but nursing was different, so it taught me additional knowledge in the field. I was in a program for foreign doctors, so I met doctors from all over the world, including Russia, Ukraine, Africa, China, Vietnam, the United States, and more. Every time we met, it was like a United Nations event. FIU Nursing was a good school to learn about nursing. When I was a doctor, I treated patients' diseases, but as a nurse, I learned I needed to have compassion and empathy. It was a caring profession. I did several fundraising marathons at the school. My advice to students would be to make the most out of the educational system. The instructors will guide you, but it's up to you to be the best you can be.
