I attend Florida International University online because it was convenient. I never stepped foot in the university. I've been a nurse for 34 years, and I did my associate's in nursing back in 1989 at Miami Community College. I decided to get my bachelor's at FIU. I finished my master's last year. I love taking care of people, especially the elderly. They're the most fundamental, and they have so much to talk about. You can learn a lot from them. I'm the hospital flow coordinator, which is an administrative position that oversees discharges and admissions. I did surgical critical care for 16 years when I worked in the trauma ICU. FIU is such a diverse mixture of cultures. Miami is the melting pot of the state, so we learned how to communicate and get along with everybody. We learn about different cultures, and we learned how to respect each other. I had a wonderful experience, and I feel like they got me up to speed with everyone else while bringing out the leadership in me.
