Going to FIU was a dream come true. I came from Cuba in 2003, and I wanted to go to a university like FIU. I had three kids, so starting school was a challenge. I was grateful, and I enjoyed being at FIU. I was a full-time student, but my husband was a great support for me. Graduation was very emotional for me and my family because nursing school took a lot of time. I was able to find a good job and continue to study. I got my master's degree as a family practitioner, and now I'm doing a post-master's program in psychology. I'm now the director of a skilled-nursing facility.
