I had a previous bachelor's degree in psychology, and I was working in a sales-related field where I didn't feel fulfilled. I wanted to work more with people directly. I decided that it would be a good idea to start in nursing and get a degree in 14 months. It was great. The clinical experiences, learning from the clinical professors who have years of experience in the field, and the relationships I made with my classmates are all things that stood out throughout the program. I had a really good time learning from my clinical professors specifically. The clinical experiences that were arranged by FIU Nursing solidified the coursework well. Student requests were accommodated, so we could get a preceptor site that matched our interests. I really enjoyed where I was placed for my preceptorship in the final semester, even though it wasn't what I was expecting initially; I learned a lot through it. It gave me a good idea of how diverse the nursing field is and what different avenues I could pursue as a nurse. I was well prepared going into my first job.
