When I started out at FIU, it wasn't for nursing. I changed my major in my first semester. At that time, we were in the process of building a beautiful state-of-the-art building. One of the things that caught my attention was the advances in the simulation lab. In comparison to any other school, it was one of my most amazing first-time experiences. I remember that when we were doing mother-baby classes, one of the mannequins was even able to go into labor. It was the closest that we could be to real life. All of that was preparation for us to intervene in the real world and not think, 'Oh, I've never seen this before.' I was very proud of choosing to go to nursing school at FIU. Everything has a way of working out, one way or another. I remember that one of the reasons I chose FIU wasn't only because of the convenience of staying local. It was also because my major was business administration. FIU was very business-driven. At the time, the Nursing Program was growing fast and advancing. Being exposed to it caught my attention.
