Ashley Lauren Mathews

I wanted to go to FIU Nursing because the student body was multicultural. It was also close to where I was living. I knew I wanted to become a nurse. I have always loved helping people, and I was intrigued by the medical world. Being a nurse just seemed like the right fit for me. I worked at the STAR Center, so I spent a lot of time running simulations for my classmates. I loved working with Dr. Parchment. She was one of my clinical professors, and I really enjoyed my time with her. Dr. Gonzalez was another one of my favorite professors. I learned a lot from him. FIU Nursing exposed me to a lot of people from different backgrounds. I moved to New Orleans, and I have been working in the ICU here.
