I was very involved at FIU Nursing. I was taking 25 hours of work overall - I would register for the original 15 and go back a few days later to add another 10. I was going to class from eight in the morning to eleven at night. Because of that, I was able to finish in 15 months instead of 18 months. I also worked part-time in a psychiatric hospital during the weekend. I had lots of friends who would come down to visit and take me out to dinner. My time there was good for me because it gave me the experience that I needed to work at the VA and the Public Health Department later on. I got to travel to a lot of countries. I spent ten years in Saudi Arabia, and I've been to New Zealand, Australia, and Thailand as well. I also spent some time on Navajo and Zuni reservations in South Dakota.
