I chose FIU because it had a program for foreign physicians with a good reputation. I came from Cuba and was previously a doctor there, and I wanted to do the same thing in this country. I had never heard of another university quite like FIU. The College of Nursing has a very expansive vision, and the instructors were all very well educated. I participated in FIU's program for 18 months. I liked being a student again and studying with everyone. I have many shared memories with my classmates and fellow Cubans of struggling a bit with English and adapting to a different culture. Coming to FIU opened my eyes to various opportunities in the healthcare field. I also learned how to live in this country. The instructors at FIU showed me the ins and outs of being a nurse, from dealing with patients to dealing with doctors. I thought that the program was very well-formed. I was able to do a lot of great networking at FIU that would bolster my future career. I established relationships at FIU that will last far into the future. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have gone to FIU.
