I was born and raised in Cuba, and I came to the United States when I was 16 years old. My uncle was a surgeon, and I always wanted to be involved in medicine. I became a paramedic for seven or eight years, and I always dreamed about going to FIU's College of Nursing. Attending was a dream come true. COVID-19 made things tough, but it made me realize that I want to help people. I love what I do, and I'd do it all over again. My professors gave me a lot of attention, and they went out of their way to help me. One of them nominated me to be a Real Triumph graduate. It felt very special for my dedication to be honored. I was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society thanks to that nomination. My degree from FIU's College of Nursing was very competitive, and I appreciate the time that I spent there.
