When I was younger, my grandmother would go through multiple hospitalizations, and I would see how the nurses would treat her. On my mom's side of the family, nursing was a popular career - I had multiple cousins and aunts who were in the nursing field. I always felt drawn to nursing because of these things. I grew up in Miami, Florida, so it was an option to stay at home while I attended FIU Nursing. My brother ended up going to FIU Nursing a couple of years prior to me. Hearing his experience about how culturally diverse the school was made me interested in going to have the college experience. I now take care of geriatric patients after my experiences with nursing through my grandmother's hospitalizations.
