I chose FIU Nursing because of its reputation and convenient location. I had a calling - I've been passionate about nursing for 36 years. When I went back for my master's degree and got my nurse practitioner license, the healthcare industry was transforming into what it is today with more nurse practitioners and primary care. There were grants and scholarships available for primary care nurse practitioners - I was a working mother with two small children, so that was a blessing. It was challenging, but the program was very flexible. I did it part-time and completed it in two years. The faculty was wonderful in helping and very understanding. It was a great overall experience. I really do love FIU so much. My son graduated from there too.
