FIU had a wonderful program for educated physicians like myself, and I was able to apply and was accepted. I wanted to work hard to get a bachelor's degree and become an RN. I finished my master's degree and became a nurse practitioner. FIU gave me that opportunity, and it was amazing. I'm a physician from Cuba. When I came to the States, I wanted to go back to doing what I loved, which was taking care of patients. Pursuing a bachelor's degree in nursing and a master's degree was my way to achieve that. One of the best parts of school was the incredible professors. We had first-class professors, and I still miss them very much. The environment was very good, and I was fully accepted, despite my age. We had a good time at school and enjoyed each other. Both campuses were a great experience. We had professors helping us on a daily basis to reach our goals. We never had the feeling that we were just a number. It was a very good school.
