Jacqulyn Francita Williams (Munroe)

BSN '98

I was in the area, and FIU was easy to do. I already had most of the basic stuff; I just bridged over. I had a diploma in nursing, and I got my degree at FIU. I went to Miami-Dade, got whatever I needed, and finished up. It took a year for me. I had a goal in mind, and I wanted to be done in that one year. I started in January and graduated in December. I was a nurse from 1987 onward; I already had a license from then. When I got my bachelor's degree, that opened up doors in terms of leadership positions and recognition. My original degree was not in the United States. I already had those opportunities in my home country of the Bahamas, but the bachelor's degree made those things more available to me. I'm also faculty at West Coast University.
