BS '00; BSN '13

In 2013, I was working at Baptist Health Homestead Hospital as an emergency room nurse. I thought it would be very important for me to return to my alma mater and get my bachelor's degree in nursing. I did the online one-year RN-to-BSN program through Blackboard. It was a great experience, and I had an even better experience with my leadership rotation. Even though it was online, they still met with us to do our portfolios. I really appreciated all the help. In 2013, they had just finished constructing the building that is now the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences - they hadn't even finished the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine yet. It was an incredible opportunity for me to be at FIU Nursing and watch its growth. I was there three weeks ago because I was checking out a library book - it is amazing what the college has become. I'm very proud to be an alumna. It is amazing to be a part of a university that is dedicated to growth and is expanding its reach throughout the community. It was a great time in my life.
