I chose FIU for its part-time and flexible program, which allowed me to balance my work, family, and studies. It was a tall order, but I managed to get it done with persistence and not much sleep. It was rewarding when I got my degree and became a nurse practitioner in cardiovascular surgery, which I could not have done without the degree. It brought me more stability and income. I was lucky to have professors like Janice and Dr. Sandy Lobar who were supportive and flexible, allowing me to pursue my studies in congenital heart care. With their support, I was able to succeed and conquer anything.
