When I was 16 years old, I worked as a candy striper during the summer in Trenton, New Jersey, and I liked it. The following summer, I worked as a dietician aide in a hospital. I enjoyed helping and talking to people, and I didn't think that I would want to do anything other than nursing. I started going to college at the University of Miami, and then I quit school and worked as a nurse's aide for a couple of years. I wanted to get my nursing degree. I was very satisfied with my undergraduate experience at FIU Nursing. I thought that the program was great. The faculty was very supportive. My first job as a nurse practitioner was in corrections, and after that, I got a job working at the health department as a nurse practitioner. I had a great career in nursing. The education I received at FIU was great, and it helped me in my professional role.
