BSN '07

I was born into a family of healthcare workers. I grew up in Brooklyn in an apartment across the street from a hospital, and everyone who lived there was a hospital worker. I had been around healthcare since I was born, so I joined Health Occupations Students of America when I got older. I took Medical Terminology, and I was very intrigued by the adrenaline portion of it. I felt a very natural progression toward healthcare, and my original plan was to be a CNA. I did a semester of CNA school and felt like it wasn't for me at all. I then became a nurse practitioner, but I realized working with anesthesia wasn't for me either. I decided that getting my bachelor's degree was the next step, and chose to attend Florida International University because of the BSN Program. It was the next step that needed to happen so I could grow in the direction I wanted to. I was busy trying to keep up with classwork, so I didn't have time for social activities. I appreciated the friendships I grew to have in practice, however. We had to come together because we were all in the same class, and it worked out. I did my classes online, which was how we chatted together.
