I liked the diversity at FIU, and I liked the amount of faculty support I had. I loved taking care of others, and once I got into nursing, I realized how much I admired and enjoyed it. I wanted to be able to take care of an individual throughout their lifespan, so I pursued a master's degree and doctorate so that I could provide that. My time at FIU Nursing was very pleasant, and I was amazed by the number of resources provided for us. My first clinical experience was over in urgent care, and I had an instructor by the name of Armando Gomez. That shaped the rest of my education path at FIU nursing, and it motivated me to see how passionate he was about the field. It made me want to pursue urgent care specifically. I had a professor by the name of Dr. Dana Sherman, and she guided me throughout my whole doctoral process. She played a big role as a DNP, and I admire her for that. I admired the volunteer activities I had to do. I volunteered with an initiative that educated women on breast cancer awareness, and I did physicals for the Special Olympics. My biggest takeaway was the knowledge I gained and the amount of dissemination of research that I'm now able to implement in my units here at the hospital.
