Lt Col Madeline E. Wahl, USAFR (Ret.)

BSN '77

My husband encouraged me to attend FIU Nursing when the school was new. There were three buildings, so it was just getting off the ground. I enrolled in the Nursing Program as a young mother at the time. It was a new school and an opportunity for me. My husband and I were settled in Miami, Florida, with our family. I was in the military reserve, so I was busy with that for one week every month. FIU Nursing had a few bachelor programs at the time. FIU Nursing was pushing for a two-year program when I attended. The military became the high point of my nursing career. FIU Nursing groomed me for working in administration in the military.
