I wanted to go forward with my degree, and I wanted to better myself in health services. I wanted to obtain a bachelor's degree, and I received information from FIU. I had colleagues who went there, and I decided to go there. I knew that I wanted to be a nurse. One of my professors took us to a homeless camp, and I found out that the need was greater than we could ever see. We went into the field to gain experience, and we helped those who were institutionalized and hospitalized. FIU helped me to get promoted, and I was able to deal with things as a head nurse and in an administrative capacity. I worked in different sectors of nursing. I went into middle school education later. I taught high school, nursing assistants, and I taught adults. Many of my students are nurses now. I retired in 2013.
