Back then, men weren't accepted in nursing as much. I had started at Niagara in Upstate New York. Then I went to Stony Brook on Long Island, and then I transferred down to Miami. I was working in Miami in the summers, so I moved down there locally. When you have a choice between spending winters in Miami and winters on Long Island, it's not really a tough call. I stayed in Fort Lauderdale for a couple of years, and then I got into Duke for my nurse practitioner degree. I moved to North Carolina, did that for three years, and took a job doing family practice in Myrtle Beach for a year. Then I moved over to Chattanooga, Tennessee, to start working in ER medicine. I went from there to Orlando for seven years. Then I went up to Raleigh for 17 years. Then I moved to Morehead City, North Carolina, for the last two and a half years. I'm also on the National Travel Team. I go around; I'm in Green Bay right now. I travel around the country working in ERs.
