Maryann Duva (Henry)

BSN '97; MBA '03

I decided to go to FIU Nursing and get my BSN because they had the best program. I was involved in a bad automobile accident when I was about ten years old. That accident got me interested in nursing. When I was in high school, I volunteered in an emergency room at a local hospital. I really enjoyed the BSN Program. I went through the accelerated MBA Program, and it taught me a lot. I have done well in my career because FIU Nursing prepared me and got me ready to take on many professional roles. After I graduated, I became a nurse at Nicklaus Children's Hospital. I have been there for almost 42 years. I've held various roles during my career - director of the emergency room, director of a neurosurgical unit, and director of a medical-surgical floor. I obtained my risk management license, and I was a risk manager for several years. Now I'm the manager of a multispecialty medical-surgical unit at another hospital.
