I decided to go into nursing, but I had a sick brother who was very near and dear to me. I helped him back on the road to recovery, and then I felt like I had the ability. I was a people person. I just wanted to take care of people, children and adults, and be very mindful of the care that I gave them. When the opportunity arose to go to FIU, I was very grateful for that. I grasped that opportunity. I started at Miami-Dade, finished there, and then said, 'Let me move on a little further.' I applied to FIU. It wasn't always an easy road, but I was determined to complete the task ahead of me. I'm grateful to the teachers who helped me move on and all of the associate students. We worked together, and I got a lot of experience there that helped me to move further on in life. I was able to display my nursing abilities to students, not only to patients. Whenever I met people who were in need of nursing help, I was ready to give my advice and help whenever it was necessary. As I worked with the Department of Health, my knowledge was widened. I was able to use all of the knowledge that I gave at FIU, and I was grateful that I was able to do that.
