Priscilla A. Bartolone (Dunson)

BSN '77

I wanted to get my bachelor's degree, and at the time, FIU had the only RN BSN program in South Florida. Several friends and I commuted from Palm Beach County to FIU over the course of two years. The most memorable things for me were the excellent instruction in physical assessments and legal ethical issues. I took a course called 'Biomedical Ethics' that was remarkable. I liked the fact that FIU Nursing focused on global health and not just local issues. We had an outstanding faculty, and we felt like we were doing this together. There was a lot of cohesiveness and a lot of collaboration with our classmates, and we did a lot of projects and presentations. I did community health nursing out of the Broward County area. Working with the Public Health Department and making home visits to clients was something I still remember to this day.
