I was a student from China and came to the United States after I passed all of my exams for the MD. I never matched a residency program, so I attended FIU to become a nurse practitioner. I had a great time there. All of the teachers were very helpful, and they helped foreign students with language. There was a special program to help us with writing in English, and I learned a lot through that. I appreciated Dr. Little because he gave a speech when we came to the school and said, 'You are a doctor, and you will always be a doctor.' He not only taught us about the contents of medical stuff but also taught us how to socialize with people in a country with a different culture. I learned a lot at FIU, and my life changed. I finished the program as a nurse practitioner, and I now have the chance to help people, get good pay, and support my family. I really appreciated the opportunity. I'm most grateful that I was given credit as a foreign medical school graduate. Everything went so smoothly at FIU, and it was very easy for me to get through the program.
