I'm a foreign-educated physician, and in 2012, FIU was offering a program for foreign-educated physicians to obtain their master's degree in nursing. It was a great opportunity for me to continue my career in the field. I feel like I'm like a bridge between physicians and nurses because I've been on both sides. I really enjoyed my years as an undergraduate and graduate student. I learned a lot from the nursing side, including a lot of bedside work. I learned how to be more holistic and work closely with the patients. FIU gave me a lot of values and tools that I use in my career today. I've been very grateful for all of the help and contribution to my success. The teachers were amazing. Everybody was willing to learn, and there were a lot of resources available to the students. It was an amazing time, and I learned how important our nurses are for our healthcare system. I loved the engagement between FIU and the community, and it was an excellent opportunity for me to give back to the community.
