Ronald "Ron" Wohl

MSN '99

I was working in Miami as a nurse in the Emergency Room, and FIU Nursing was my best choice. I took an MBTI test in the 197s, and I came out as ENFP, which stood for extroverted, intuitive, feeling, and perceptive. The best nurse was ESFP, where the intuitive was changed into sense. I'm still that way. I'm 78 years old, but I didn't complete my nurse practitioner program until August 1999, when I was 55 years old. Don't let age stop you. I was a nurse for 27 years before I became a nurse practitioner, but I didn't get my first real nurse practitioner job until 2003. When I finally did it, it was like a weight had been lifted off of my shoulders. I felt very honored to be able to expand my capacity from nursing to nurse practitioner. I'm currently the vice president of a clinic here in the Gainesville area. We help a lot of homeless and uninsured people. I find myself ecstatic that I can still help people, even with my disability.
