Sandra Jeanne Kreul (Oliver), APRN

BSN '93; MSN '96

Growing up in the Midwest gave me a great foundation, but palm trees, sandy beaches, and waves rolling on the sand had my name all over them. I received my RN in the Midwest and left shortly after to start my journey. I became a traveling nurse and loved everything about it! I enjoyed the challenges I faced and the people I met along the way. My dream was to become a nurse practitioner, so I went back to school. I first received my bachelor of science in nursing, then I continued to get my master of science in nursing. I became an advanced practice registered nurse while writing my master's thesis and working full-time at Cleveland Clinic Florida. Shortly after graduating, I moved to Tampa. I have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Benedict Maniscalco for 25 years. When I started to work there, he asked me, 'What do you want to do?' Without a second thought, I told him, 'I want to do it all!' He opened up doors to leadership opportunities, and I did it all. I started the Central Florida chapter of the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association and ran it for 12 years. I volunteered to be on the Council of Cardiovascular Nursing and became chair for two terms. After a lot of hard studies, I became a Clinical Lipid Specialist, sat on the board of directors for National Lipid Association, sat on the board of the Florida Lipid Association, and was on the editorial board for the Journal of Clinical Lipidology. In addition, I have published research articles. All of these accomplishments are great, but nothing like the ability to care for patients in the office. I can honestly say that helping patients get back to a better level of health is a blessing God has given me. All of this would not be possible without Dr. Maniscalco, Dr. Kathleen Blais, and Dr. Divina Grossman. I look forward to another 25 years of helping save one life at a time. Go Panthers!
